Momma's MRI?

My sister and I have been very concerned that my mother is crazy. Literally. In fact, when I described my mother to my own therapist, my therapist asked if my mother has been diagnosed as biopolar. Truth is, the idea had never occurred to me before.

After my mom's last visit, my sister and I were even more convinced that our mother's mental health is frighteningly precarious. You may recall I had drawn images of her "various emotions," which I later decided were too offensive to her to publilsh on-line. [Despite her insanity, I do love my mother a great deal.]

I took my Mom to see my therapist with me while she was here, hoping my therapist could 1) mediate because I was no longer able to have a conversation with my mother without screaming and 2) convince my mother that she needs psychiatric help. Unfortunately, my mother lied to the therapist. And when put on the spot by my therapist who literally asked me, "Are you saying that your mother is a liar?" I wimped out and defended her. "No," I said, looking down, defeated. I didn't want to insult my mother by calling her a "liar," even though she is one! But she really needs help.

Anyway, just today I got an email from my sister with a link to a newsreport that states that MRI's may now detect bipolar disorder. Interesting... I don't think she could lie her way out of an MRI. But how could we convince her to get into that machine?

Comments:
I'm always worried that my mom is crazy. This visit she let the dogs out (who let the dog's out? my mom!), and it was the middle of the night, and she doesn't have a fence at her new house yet. Anyway, apparently one of them had to pee, and she felt they could go outside and come back. That wasn't the case, and so she took her car out and roamed the hood. She got one of them into the car and then when she spotted the other, she forgot to put the car in park, and had to grab the parking break after getting out of the car. Anyway, her judgment scares me.
